Maui Stables is located in Kipahulu on the east shore of Maui, in the district of Hana.
To experience the true wilderness of Old Hawaii, it is necessary to get as far away from development as you can. A mere 50 miles from the major resort areas, the drive can take up to 2½ hours. Be prepared to leave your hotel by 6:30 a.m., as there are many interesting points along your journey to the stables.
Routes
There are two ways to get to Maui Stables:
Direction #1 - (Recommended - See route in purple on map)
- Head back to the airport in Kahului and turn right at the stop light by the Big Kmart Store. That will put you on Highway 36, Hana Highway.
- Go about two miles to the next stoplight and turn right again. This will put you on Highway 37, Haleakala Highway.
- Grandama's Coffee House is a great breakfast and lunch stop, right past mile marker 16, last building on right hand side of the road.
- At around mile marker 20 the highway number will change from 37 to 31.
- Maui Stables sign is on the right hand side of the road between mile markers 40 & 41. ( We are almost to the 41 mile marker.)
- Turn right and we are at the bottom of the paved road on the right.
- Approximate drive time from airport: 2-2.5 hours
Direction #2 (See route in orange on map)
- Head back to the airport in Kahului and turn right at the stop light by the Big Kmart Store. That will put you on Highway 36, Hana Hwy.
- Stay on Hwy 36 all the way to Hana town.
- Just prior to Hana Town the road will fork... Stay to the right. It will say "360" and the Police station is immediately on your left.
- Continue on about 11 miles towards Kipahulu
- Look for Maui Stables sign past 41 mile marker on the left
- We are at the bottom of the paved road on the right
- Approximate drive time from airport: 2.5 hours

Grandma's Coffee HousePast mile marker 16 on Hwy. 37 is the small town of Keokea. Grandma's Coffee House is the last building on the right hand side of the road. Great coffee, breakfast, home made pastries and sanwiches to go. A great rest stop! Three miles past Grandma's Hwy 37 will turn into Hwy. 31 |

This famous Maui attraction boasts acres and acres of vineyards where you can stop to take a winetasting, or even a free tour of the property. From this vantage point on a clear day, you can see the islands of Hawaii, Kahoolawe, Molokini, Lanai, and Molokai. |
